2017 Prediction Results

Here's a look back at my 2017 predictions and how I fared:

1. Broncos will have secured a wild card play off spot (see how positive I am being?) Not even close!

2. Patriots vs. Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Seahawks win. Sadly, also a no.

3. We will FINALLY take back our school board and beat the Koch Brothers to regain the majority of the school board YES! YES! YES!!!!!!!!

4. Camille's speech will greatly improve and we will not need to sign her up for 1st grade Her speech has greatly improved, and I do not plan to sign her up for 1st grade- so, YES

5. Audra will go to state fair for a sewing project Yes- her pillowcase went to state fair!

6. Our country will be embroiled in some sort of international dispute due to a tweet (probably more than 1) I would have to say YES- we are pretty much hated now by the entire world, including our allies, and have been condemned by the UN, so yeah- we aren't looking good internationally. Or nationally. Our country pretty well stinks right now.

7. Republicans will blame Obama for that international dispute, completely ignoring the facts and making up their own fake news Partial yes. A whole ton of blame on Obama for things he had nothing to do with, and plenty of claims of "Fake news" over everything they just don't like.

8. I will go the entire year without hearing DT's voice (which is my goal for his entire 4 year presidency) Mostly yes. I think I heard his voice twice. I try to avoid it as much as possible, and have been mostly successful.

9. Resistance groups will mobilize and fight DT at every turn, making his life miserable and causing him to get bored of being president, moving him on to a shinier token to play with, and leaving Pence actually in charge of ruining the country (I love me some resistance groups!)

Definitely yes for the huge resistance groups and making DT's life miserable. He definitely seems like a miserable person with nothing better to do with his life than bully and be a creep.

10. We will continue to enjoy the daily grind of homeschooling, being a family, traveling, and just loving life. YES! This has been one of my favorite years of being a mom- we did a lot of traveling (the solar eclipse was a favorite!), and this is easily our best year of homeschooling. We have a beautiful life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything! I think 2018 will just be even better!

Coco

Today we went to the theatre to see Coco. We all really enjoyed the movie!

And then, the subliminal messaging of the movie forced us to go out for Mexican for dinner. A place with tamales would have been better, but convenience won and Chipotle it was:

Friends Come To Town!

The Burnside's came into town- which was a blast for our girls! Adelle and Audra are great friends, so it was sad when they moved to Utah. All six of our girls ended up having a fabulous time playing together, and even having a sleepover. Where they went to bed when we told them too- wow!

The whole gang of friends got together to play- it was a lot of kids, and a lot of joy!

The mamas chilling:

Who Knew the Mall Could Be So Much Fun?

My parents gifted us some Christmas money, so we decided to use some of it to take the kids for an experience. After thinking about it for awhile, we decided to take the kids to the mall of all places.

They have all kinds for things for kids- an arcade, bowling, and more.

It truly turned out to be the absolute most fun! We definitely want to do this again!

We stopped at the French bakery so the girls could feel like princesses. It worked:

Sadly, Ben won.

I am definitely not a "gamer" by any sense of the word, but I loved gaming at this arcade! Ben even talked me into playing The Walking Dead- which I find disgusting- and I actually outplayed Ben! He died before I did;)

Ice Skating!

It's our second year doing this, so I think it is now a tradition...outdoor skating at Southglenn!

We decided that we like that the rink is pretty small. It makes it a little easier to get around. Oh, and it isn't nearly as "slippery" as the indoor rink- i.e, they don't ice it and it is VERY bumpy, which makes it a little easier to skate on.

The girls were absolutely fabulous skating. Camille just tore it up! They had an absolute blast.

Bonus: Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Beth, and cousins Max and Mackenzie also came.

Christmas Day

The girls were supposed to wait until 7 AM, but my clock said 6:57 when they came in yelling, screaming, and jumping up and down yelling, "It's Christmas!"

There was A LOT of jumping up and down and absolute JOY as the girls opened their presents. It was a lot of fun! Ben thinks that Santa might spoil our girls a little much, but I think he spoils them the exact right amount.

Audra made me this acrostic poem. I think I will frame it and keep it as a Christmas decoration:

After our annual Danish tradition of aeberskivers for breakfast, the girls played with toys for some time (including coding Camille's new robot, Coji), and then we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's to enjoy some cousin time.

Grandma made Camille's day by getting her new PINK boots. Bonus: They match Mackenzie's boots!

Here they are with matching boots:

But, I was really, really, really sad when we got home and Camille said, "Can I throw my red boots away?" Admittedly, her red boots are in ROUGH shape. The zippers on the side no longer work, and they are getting pretty thread baren. But, she has LOVED the red boots so much, and she wears them with everything. I am a little sad that they are now gone, even though I obviously knew it would have to happen someday.

And, you know it is a successful day when Camille falls asleep on the car ride home:

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
