Claire's Portfolio

This picture melted my heart. It says "I want my friends to know that I have to choose between volleyball and gymnastics and that is a really hard choice." I had no idea she was even trying to make that decision! I accidentally made the decision for her as I had already signed her up for gymnastics before I saw this.

Art Work

Audra made this lovely masterpiece at Cloverleaf:

And, Claire spent almost 3 hours on this Zentangle Artwork at a co-op. Claire is definitely a doodler- all of her assignments are covered with her drawings. I really need to think of signing her up for some kind of art class.

Leaf Co-Op

We had a leaf co-op at Hudson Gardens. The kids studied and compared different types of leaves. It was a lot of fun!

Art

The other day the girls were coloring and Audra said, "Claire, when we grow up I bet we will be great artists. Especially you, Claire. You draw beautiful pictures." Claire responded by saying, "I know."

Here's Audra's pictures:

They decided they wanted to make kites:
Then here's a sheet Audra filled out about herself at school- I love that she's from "Coworadou"
 Here's Claire's art- she's a little Picasso:

And her kite:

You may think that I like Audra's art better as I have more pictures of her art. That is not the case, however. Claire is very meticulous about her art. She will spend an hour on one picture, and so she has fewer pictures.

Camille has also started getting in on the art action. I will post some of her pictures soon.

Audra and Claire's Portfolios

This Christmas season brought about a lot of artwork. The girls spent hours on their beautiful artwork which they hung up all over the house.

This is a gingerbread house that Audra drew:

Here Audra took a coloring page and cut out the presents, colored them, and glued them on this page. Also, notice the ornaments on the Christmas trees- those are her signature ornaments. I can always tell her trees by how the ornaments are made. On the middle left, the person labled "good" is actually "God." She said, "I don't really know what He looks like" but she wanted Him included in her picture:
Audra made this picture at church yesterday. It says, "I am an example to my family. I am a Child of Good." I love that she spelled "God" wrong because she really is a good child. She knows she is a daughter of God, but she is also just a sweet spirit who really does try to be good- so her spelling error perfectly describes her as well.
Claire did this picture- she came up with the pinwheel type design all herself. I think it just shows how creatively her mind works. Art classes will definitely be in her future:

Claire's Art

Claire continues to LOVE coloring and all things art. It is something very calming for her, and she will work on one coloring page for over an hour. It is really quite impressive. Art classes will definitely be in her future!

Here's some pages she did this last week:

Above she wrote her name. She is really big into making letters and "spelling."
For a 4-year-old she does a pretty good job of staying in the lines. Art is her happy place. Unless you try to make her stop coloring before she has finished. Then it is anything BUT happy! Just ask her primary teachers.

Portfolio

Time to update the girls portfolios. We'll start with Audra's pictures. She is really doing a good job of drawing things instead of scribbling:

And here is Claire. She is still scribbling, but she is always so super proud of her pictures:

Claire made the above picture at church the other day. We asked her what she did at church and she said, " We went for a walk. We had to hold hands. I ran away from my teachers." She just said is all so matter-of-fact. As if running away from her teachers was just par for the course. With her it is.

Portfolio's

The girls got lots of coloring pages for Christmas this year, which is wonderful. They LOVE coloring. But, this is now what my fridge looks like:

I actually really love when the fridge looks like this. It screams, "this is a house that is filled with love and children" when I see it. Claire gets SO excited and SO proud of her drawings. She wants tons of praise, and she gets it.

The problem is, the fridge gets overcrowded with pictures and no room is left for the new pictures, and it gets difficult to open the door because drawings just fall off. So it was time to do some more pictures of their pictures and add to their on-line "portfolios."

Here are Claire's drawings:

And here's Audra's work. The first one is a watercolor she painted. She much prefers painting to coloring, but I don't let her do it that often because it takes more work on my part. Yeah, I'm nice like that.

I'm really glad I can take pictures and make a portfolio like this! I want to always have their cute drawings, but without all of the bulk of keeping all of their drawings- this is perfect!
