Adam's Mystery Playhouse

For a belated anniversary activity, we went to the Adams Family Playhouse. We went and saw them on our 2nd anniversary, when they very first started, and we are so glad they survived Covid and are still in business. Some of the jokes were the same, but it was still an absolute blast. Next time we want to take the kids, we think they will love it, too.

Inspire Excellence Award

Claire was honored at the Ranch View Excellence Assembly. This is a BIG deal. Only about 30 kids win this award the entire year. They invite parents to come to the assembly, and the kids all cheer and the teachers make a tunnel for the kids to run through, and they are called down one by one and cheered. Claire had no clue she was nominated, so it was pretty cool when she got called down. We are super proud of her! This has been a rough transition for her, but she has persevered and made a great impact on her teachers and the friends she has made. She is so awesome!

This is what her teachers said about her:

Claire exemplifies open-mindedness as she approaches every subject with curiosity and a love of learning. Claire considers different points of view, which deepens her understanding of academic topics Every day, Claire shows respect, understanding, and kindness to her peers and teachers. She can balance her school responsibilities with a positive and confident attitude. We truly value Claire and feel so fortunate to have as part of our 8 Tundra team.

Then, at the same assembly, she was asked to do musical chairs. It was so funny! She was nervous and looked up strategies for musical chairs. Her main goal was to not be the first one out, and she wasn't. This girl can do it all!

The Secret Garden

I just finished a Secret Garden unit with my 5th graders. It was so fun! These girls were the best to work with! Sometimes this job is the best, and this book with this group was one of those times!

Where's Waldo

Ben was asked to be one of the Waldo's for the annual youth Where's Waldo event. This is the costume Ben came up with, and he was convinced that he looked totally different. I told him his best disguise was that none of the kids know him. But, the leaders know him, and they kept pointing him out to the kids! So lame! So everyone (except, oddly, the Bishop) figured him out in about 5 minutes. Oh, well. He said it was still a lot of fun.

Battle of the Books

I had never heard of BOTB until I moved to Colorado, but it is a BIG deal at Trailblazer. TBE wins the trophy very often, and it is very competitive to get on the team.

Of course, Camille wanting to do absolutely everything, she jumped right into the fray. She worked SO HARD to get on the team! There were 15 kids vying for 5 spots. And, she made it! And, those who didn't make it, said she definitely deserved to make it- she did everything she needed to do to make the team. I'm super proud of her- Camille sets goals, and she works incredibly hard to achieve them.

She had her first battle today. She was nervous, but did awesome, and they WON! It should be a great season!

Kia EV6

This is a very weird time to want to purchase a car. Ben has talked about NOTHING except cars for the past year. It's very annoying. He put a deposit down on a Mach E, but he has never been able to test drive one because every car that comes in is already purchased, and the wait to get your order is a year. In a weird set of circumstances, Kia had two used EV6's, so we went and Ben test drove one.

Woah! This car is amazing! It is at times self driving. It can accelerate so fast I felt like I was on a ride at Disney. Everything about it is just incredible. So Ben ordered one of those, too. He doesn't have to decide yet- if he decides to not get one or the other, they will simply call the dozens of people on their "I want to buy one" list and they will easily resell it, so it means nothing to order it and then not actually buy it.

We don't really want to buy a car for about 5 months, once Audra gets her driver's license. But, man, after both of us driving 14 or 16 year old cars, getting both of us new cars with all of these new features (heated steering wheel!!!) is really intriguing.

Plus, if we finally buy his car maybe Ben will finally stop talking about cars!

Camille and Mom Date

Trailblazer held a Cookies and Canvas night, so Camille and I got to go on a date night. It was lovely to have some special time with her, and she loved being with her friend Annie, too. It was a great night!
