The Grand Canyon

THIS was the real reason we came- to go to The Grand Canyon. It's a two hour drive from Vegas to get to the West side which is owned by the natives and houses the Skywalk.

It was truly incredible. The pictures don't do it justice at all. I'm so glad we went and got to see God's masterpiece!

Lunch at the Skyview Cafe:

They had some examples of native shelters:

Claire and Camille teased Audra quite a bit by saying this small cooking hut was Audra's hut because she is so short:

The Old Mormon Fort

I know the term "Mormon" is outdated, but it IS the name of the Fort, so it's my only option.

We had some friends who lived in Vegas before, and they said we needed to go see this Fort, so we did. I'm glad we did as we learned a lot about the history of Vegas and the importance of the original Mormon settlers. They were the first white people there, and they left after two years because it was so hard. But, they helped pave the way for the next group of settlers.

"The First Lady of Vegas"- after the Mormons went back to Salt Lake, she came to the same property and built it up after her husband was murdered. She was pretty awesome.

Las Vegas: Day 3

On our last day on the Strip, we decided to split up as the kids wanted to do different things. Ben and Audra went to the Titanic museum. I took Claire and Camille to the Excalibur for the arcades. Unfortunately, the arcades were closed! So we started walking the Strip again, not know what we would do. We decided to walk up to the Venetian and do the Gondola ride. It was another long ride, so we also decided to take a taxi back!

It was really cool, and I think everybody was happy.

Then, I had to share this picture from when we checked out. Camille insisted on folding up the dirty towels because she couldn't stand them being strewn about. Apparently she has some of Ben's OCD. She is very neat and tidy, so it was fun to see her personality come out, even on vacation.

Las Vegas: Day 2

On Day 2 we walked down the Strip, again. We did a lot of walking!

Camille said her favorite part of the trip was the Hershey Store, M & M Store, and the chocolate factory we visited on our last day. A girl after my own heart!

It was a little chilly, but Audra and Camille wanted to enjoy the pool anyway.

We were so excited to see David Copperfield! And, he was as wonderful as Ben and I remember from when we saw him on our 10th Anniversary Trip. It was so much fun- he truly is the absolute best!

He sent us an e-mail before the show that had all the information of what happened in the show- down to the color of shirts that the people chosen from the audience were wearing. It was pretty cool!
