4H Retreat

Last weekend the girls had a 4H retreat down in Fairplay at one of the leaders cabins. It was an overnight retreat, but we just went down for a full Saturday of activities.

It was incredible! Seriously. And the best part? I didn't plan any of it! I brought snacks- that's it. It was wonderful.

The people who did put the day together did an absolutely fabulous job. It started at 10:30. Every half hour they had a new activity- zip lining, archery, team building games, wood painting, water balloon launching, and so much more. I can't believe all that the adults who organized this did.

But, even better than all the incredible work that made this day unforgettable were two other factors:

1. There were five adults who put this together. These 5 were in 4H growing up- but not in the same club. They met after the age of 14 when they started doing state 4H senate and such and worked together on the state level. Out of that, they remain best friends still today, and all are very active in 4H. One of them doesn't even have kids, but he still does a lot of judging for 4H and really wanted to help our kids to have a great retreat. It's awesome to me to think of all the opportunities and friendships that come out of 4H. I love it!

2. Even though Audra and Claire are the youngest in the group, all the bigger kids are so great to them. It's amazing to see 17 year olds treat Claire like a little sister just because they are in the same club. The kids in 4H are just the best- they are people who I want my girls to emulate. It was simply wonderful.

It required a lot of driving, but it was well worth it! We LOVE 4H!
