Christmas Around the World

For the second year in a row, we did Christmas Around the World. I made Ben take off of work so he could see how awesome this activity is.

A few days ago Camille said, "I want to do a country, too!" Sigh. So much more work! But, how could I say no to the cutest 6 year old on the planet?

Audra chose Nigeria and made a traditional appetizer called "Chin Chin." It is fried dough, and not very tasty- even with sugar splash (our girls term for powdered sugar) sprinkled on top. Chin chin was not a hit, but that's OK.

Claire made up for it, however, with her trifle. That was delicious, and just about every bite was eaten. I had two helpings!

Camille made Aebelskivers, but I forgot to get a picture. She was so excited about her Aebelskivers- and they were also a major hit.

Claire was tired of getting everything ready by this point.

Audra is a natural when it comes to presenting. Even though she gets nervous, she presents with confidence. It is really impressive.

And, don't tell me how old she looks. I don't like it.

Claire did a great job with England. We all learned a lot about it!

Camille was so quiet that nobody could really hear her, but she really did awesome considering this was her first presentation in front of a crowd. She was really excited to present, though I had to help her just a little bit.

There were 20 countries represented. The kids were a little restless by about presentation 17, but overall they did really, really well.

This really is one of our favorite homeschool events all year! It is a TON of work, but is always worth it.

I'm glad it is over, though. I really, really need a good nights sleep after all of this!
