Lessons I'm Taking With Me From 2020

I have spent way too much time thinking about this, but here's my list of 20 Things I'm Taking With Me From 2020. What would you add?

  1. Never take anything for granted
  2. (After Covid) Take the trip, have dinner with your friends, say "yes" to the parties and opportunities, for you never know when those opportunities will be gone
  3. Everything can change in an instant. Being willing to accept, adapt, and move forward is a life skill.
  4. There are pros and cons to everything. Literally everything.
  5. Ending racism is the job of white people. We must get educated and fight to end racism. Every. Single. Day.
  6. Often it's the little things that bring the greatest joy.
  7. Slowing down, clearing the calendar, having time to just BE is a blessing.
  8. Showing up to vote and preserve Democracy is essential.
  9. Regardless of age, learning and trying new skills/things is a wonderful pursuit.
  10. Finding and building a community, even (especially) during a pandemic is possible and important
  11. Instead of placing great meaning into "why is this happening," simply accepting "what is" is very healing.
  12. Getting outside every day is therapy
  13. Reconnecting with old friends is also therapy
  14. Laughter is good medicine
  15. Not believing everything you read and see is an important skill
  16. Letting go of perfection and the idea that "busy" is "better"
  17. Education doesn't have to be done inside a school building
  18. As always, women are saving the world- from nurses to teachers to moms, we are the ones keeping the world going, and also like always, not getting paid (or getting paid pittance) for it
  19. Working together as a collective whole makes us far stronger than only looking after our own selfish interests
  20. The Broncos may never have a winning season again
