Final k-12 Concert For Audra

This was emotional- Audra's last high school concert. Admittedly, I shed a few tears. They sounded amazing. Claire was also in the concert with orchestra, and since she is not doing orchestra next year, this may well be our very last band concert and the k-12 level. We are still holding out hope that she will sign up again her senior year, but time will tell. Now I guess we will need to fly to BYU and see Audra perform with the BYU band.

If you look closely, you can see Audra's name starred as the  "Principal" trumpet!

The seniors

Jayson has been one of Audra's best friends since they were band together in 4th grade. He is like a brother to her and he appropriately teases her and makes her laugh often. We are very grateful for his friendship with Audra and wish him luck in Wisconsin!

Hmm....

I'm not sure how I feel about Camille's response to my text...

Second Prom

When she was little, I had an irrational fear that she wouldn't get asked to prom. Now she fears at college nobody will ever ask her out.

Something tells me, she will be OK. #TRHSprom2025

Her date, Nicholas. He is a very nice boy.

Camille did her hair- it turned out incredible. Absolutely perfect.

Piece for Peace

Last Monday I got a random phone call from Mormon Women for Ethical Government, an organization I help lead in Colorado. A reporter from USA Today who lives in the Denver area wanted to do an article regarding a project MWEG is working on- Constitution Quilts.

Basically, women coming together to write quotes defending the constitution on quilt squares that would then be turned into quilts and hand delivered to our elected leaders in Washington DC, specifically Senator Michael Bennett and a representative from Greeley.

I was asked if I could organize and get women to come to an event on Saturday that the reporter could then come and do an article about.

Being me, of course I said yes- not quite knowing what I was organizing and how it would work. Regardless, the library was miraculously available, so I booked it, and then we started sending out emails and posting on Facebook, and we waited to see what would happen.

I couldn't believe it- but we had 15 women come! It was fantastic! We had an awesome time, and the quilt will be amazing. Come Mid-May there should be an article in USA Today about our project. We shall see.

Art Show

Camille refused to let me take a picture of her, but her art was chosen to be on display at the DCSD art show! This is a big honor, and we are very proud of her. She loves art, and her ceramic sewing machine was absolutely beautiful. It was fun to go to the Legacy center and see her art on display.

Easter!

We are trying to follow Elder Stevenson's council and make Easter more meaningful and more like Christmas. Of course, though, we also still did an Easter egg hunt. It's Audra's last one at home- at least for awhile- so we it was extra special.

I set up a special Easter display with our deceased family members. Honestly, it made me tear up every time I saw Matt's picture. He's too young. He shouldn't be in the display. But, ultimately, I do believe that because Christ is risen, Matt still lives. And that is what matters.

My parents were in town which was really nice.
The girls were excited to finally be able to wear their new dresses.
Easter hunt with the cousins:

We do a Mormon-ized Passover dinner every year. It's actually a pretty cool tradition that I have loved doing because it brings in Passover and ancient scripture. We do a Jerusalem dinner for Christmas, so it's nice to do a Passover dinner for Easter. Except we actually never had a night to to do it, so we ended up doing it for Easter lunch. That's probably a much more practical way for us to do it, and it worked out really well.

Overall, it was a great day. Mac and Ann hosted a wonderful dinner and evening, and it was a nice day to remember the importance of Easter.
