6th Grade Continuation

Camille is officially done with Elementary School! She is excited, with a little bit of nervousness.

The school put on a really nice ceremony.

Camille has absolutely ROCKED elementary school! She does it all! She works hard, is willing to try new things, is friends with everyone, and is just...brilliant. I can't believe that she won't be at TBE next year! This girl really is the best!

Year Two In the Books

I am going to miss not having Camille as my little buddy at school, but she is pretty excited to be free of having her mom at her school. She is ready to slay middle school!

For me, it was an end to my second year back at work. It was a great year! I still feel so blessed to have this job- it really is pretty miraculous how it all came to be.  It will be weird to not have Camille there next year. I have loved walking with her to and from school and just having her there.

Last Soccer Game

Claire played in what may be her last ever soccer game. I hope it isn't, but her club days are over as she has aged out of her team. Whether she plays high school again or not remains to be seen, but she wants to focus on basketball, so we shall see.

The Dynamos has been an awesome team for her. She's been on the team for about 5 or 6 years. She has really improved- she scores a lot of goals! She can shoot from the 30 and it's a beautiful shot! I'll miss seeing her play. She has made some really great friends and had a ton of fun. She loves soccer! I hope it isn't an end of an era- hopefully she will at least play intramurals or in some adult leagues when she gets to college and beyond.

Audra's Birthday

Birthday week continues as Audra turns 17! I can't believe it. 17 really does sound old!

It wasn't a super exciting day as we had grad parties to go to, but she and Austin went and played mini-golf which she was excited about and then they came back home for cake and ice-cream. Very low-key, which kind-of fits her personality.

Not pictured: We got her a trumpet cleaning and Starbuck's gift card that she wanted

At 17, here's a glimpse of Audra:

-Favorite color is still purple

-She works incredibly hard to keep her straight A's

-Trumpet, trumpet, trumpet

-Piano, piano, piano

-She enjoys working at the day care (where she is mostly with the 2-3 year olds, but she catches every single cold that the kids have. She is constantly sick!

-She can now drive the stick shift perfectly- she's a beast in her little Honda Fit

-Her room is always spotless and perfectly organized

-She's gorgeous. Absolutely stunning.

-She is the first counselor in her YW class

-She is very glad to have dropped out of drama- she is so done with the drama drama! That class brought her way too much stress, and zero happiness. It was a good call to drop out.

-She can't decided on a favorite food, but she says she likes pasta

-Chocolate!

-She still gets was too stressed over everything and needs to learn to see the bright side of life. She tends to only see the negatives and dwell on that

-She's incredibly good at math, but it does require effort. Ben helps her almost night, but her teacher loves and respects her effort- even calling Audra her "Bell weather." If Audra gets something wrong on a test, the teacher knows she didn't teach it because Audra comes in and meets with her before school, so if she struggles, she knows she didn't teach it well.

-Her best friend is still Jayson. She still doesn't have super close girlfriends. I'm not sure why

-She is still the kindest person you will ever meet

-She tries to get in a workout every day for her mental health

-She doesn't know where she wants to go to college, but she's considering Southern Utah University in addition to BYU, Weber State, CU Boulder, and CSU

-She wants to be a mom when she grows up, but as a back up maybe becoming a school counselor, so she thinks she will pursue an elementary Ed degree and then get her master's in counseling

-She is still very shy and very quiet

Field Day!

Mr. C always knocks it out of the park for field day, and this year was no exception! Ben and I volunteered (we ran the fowling- football plus bowling- station)  and got to see Camille do some of her stations. There were lots of laughs and a great time was had by all.

Casa Bonita

After a year on the wait list, we finally got the coveted reservation! We had to play hooky and pull the littlest out of school, but it was worth it. We found the food good (not great, but good), and the entire atmosphere more elevated post renovation. It didn't feel nearly as chaotic as before, we think maybe because people aren't wandering around with trays of food. And maybe because it was during school hours so not a lot of kids running around.

Definitely worth a trip- two thumbs up from us!

Camille's Birthday and Outdoor Ed

Camille had outdoor Ed this week! She left on Monday, came back Wednesday. She was so incredibly excited! Apparently she had a great time, though she is a child of few words so we don't have very many details.

I brought her home, where the YW had decorated for her Birthday:

Grandma and grandpa High got her a t-shirt in honor of Battle of the Books: Abibliophobia: The fear of running out of books
Ben and I got her some items to decorate her bedroom which is what she wanted
She requested a cake where the main ingredient was melted ice-cream and chocolate marshmallow cake. It was fun and tasty.

Here's Camille at 12 years old:

-She is still very quiet, except at home where she talks and talks and talks

-She is very competitive. She really wants to try out for competitive soccer

-She has a crush on Bodhi, and he likes her, too

-She is starting to show some sass and negative attitude. Not full on teen mode yet, but it's coming

-She is a very good baker

-She has incredible work ethic. She is great at coming home from school and getting her homework done immediately. She is very self motivated. And super smart. Really, she is brilliant- it's awesome to watch her

-She still enjoys art

-She still wants to do everything- she just jumps into every opportunity available

-Her piano playing is excellent. But her love of the clarinet and band is wanting. Probably only one year left for her, would be my guess

-She still isn't growing very much. She's several inches shorter than both Audra and Claire at this age

-Her favorite color is blue. Her favorite book seems to be The Maze Runner

-She has several "book crushes" as she calls them, most notably Minho from The Maze Runner

-Her favorite candy is Snickers

-She knocks on my door the second I turn off the shower every morning in order to come into my room and chat
