Lots of Sorting!

For the first time, I went and helped with sorting the donated food for Feeding the 5,000. Yikes! I never realized how much work really goes into something like this! It was neat to see how all the food that gets collected gets into the truck and sent to the food bank, where it once again needs to be sorted, stacked on shelves, and then finally given to those in need.

We once again saw miracles- not as dramatic as the truck spilling it's load on the highway- but the miracle of how the Lord can magnify the efforts of those trying to do His will.

Never before has St. Luke's collected so much food that they ran out of crates in which to sort the food, but that happened yesterday- and there were still several vans of food coming in. One of our church members ran to Home Depot and grabbed about 50 boxes. Seemingly small, but he saw a problem and took action.

So many boxes of food! After a politically charged week, it was really neat to see the community come together in generosity to help others. As the Feeding the 5,000 sign reads, "That was an hour wasted I'll never get back- said no volunteer, ever."
