As we prepared for our annual camping trip, Camille said, "Dad, you have to come adventuring with us!"
Ben still chose not to go, and he missed A LOT of adventures!
Because it's 2020, we endured a thunderstorm while hiking, torrential downpour where we sat in the van for almost 2 hours to wait it out, we couldn't have any fires because all of Colorado is currently on fire so no roasting marshmallows (we cooked them on the stove instead), I gave myself a fat lip when a tent pole whacked me in the face, and we woke up to my car having a flat tire.
And yet, the girls loved it and can't wait until next year.
The things we do for our children...
It was such a beautiful hike! Until the thunderstorm came. Sigh. We weren't able to finish the hike as we hustled back down the mountain, which made me sad. We will have to try it again. It has been bone dry for the past month- we have been praying for rain, so we couldn't be so upset. But, it's so 2020 to have it rain when we are sleeping in a tent.
We had walking tacos for dinner. Claire was in heaven.
We baked our marshmallows. Not ideal, but it worked.
Waking up to a flat tire was the pits. Thankfully, several years ago my father-in-law gave me a mini air compressor when our tire went flat on a road trip to Bear Lake. I have never, ever been so grateful for my father-in-law!
This little air compressor worked perfectly!
So, we went on another hike!
Where we ended up at the world's ugliest meadow.
Such a perfect 2020 ending to this trip.
