Disneyworld Day 5: Animal Kingdom

Today was another wonderful day....for everyone except me.

Once again, we slept in a little bit and didn't Rope Drop, which was fine.

Our first ride was Expedition Everest. Claire and Camille didn't go, and I should have stayed back with them! As soon as I got off the ride I puked. And, for the next four hours I was completely out of commission. I had to go to the First Aid area and lay down for a bit. I have never been so motion sick before in my entire life! It was HORRIBLE.

I have never gotten motion sickness at Disney- their rides are so smooth. Here's where I made my mistake: I thought I would be smart and get a motion sickness patch that goes behind your ear. I even got ones for all the kids as well. But, my pediatrician warned me that they had really bad side effects. I stupidly did not pay attention, though I also didn't have Claire and Camille wear them. Just Audra and I wore them. Audra took hers off after a day because she felt tons of brain fog and just felt off. I felt great so I kept my on. Except, I did have bluriness. Which was weird, but not a big deal- it was only on things up close. But, by Thursday, after wearing them for 4 days, I did feel total brain fog, and I couldn't read anything. Everything within two feet was a complete blur- I couldn't read my phone, the map, anything. So I took it off.

Little did I know by taking it off it sent my vestibular something into hyperdrive. So when I rode Everest, it made me WAYYYYYYYY more sick than if I had never worn the stupid patch to begin with.

Lesson learned. Those patches are of the devil! It pretty much ruined my day.

But I didn't want it to ruin everyone else's day, so they went off and did all the rides- Kali River Rapids (twice because they loved it so much), Dinosaur, Triceratops Spin, they explored the Tree of Life and Gorilla Trail. They had a great time. Ben even took some pictures because he knew I would want to see:

We had lunch reservations which I didn't want to cancel, so we went to Yak and Yeti. I could only order the Wonton soup, which is really too bad because the food looked so amazing!, but at least I could keep the soup down and that helped.

We went on a Jungle Walk

And saw the Birds Show

We went on the Kalimanjari Safari which was really neat:

And got some ice-cream treats:

Then we went to Pandora. OH MY GOODNESS! Just like Star Wars, this place was AMAZING!

I'm so glad I didn't miss this!

We rode Flight of Passage twice. It was Ben's favorite ride, and definitely a top one for all of us. It's like Soarin', but a thousand times better.

We went to Santulli Canteen for dinner. These are hamburger buns- they were so good!

Ben got a chicken bowl, also incredible:

We went on Na'vi River, and then headed back. I would have like to have gone back to do Kali River, but the park was unfortunately closed.

Even though the morning was for sure ruined for me, it really was a pretty great day. Animal Kingdom is such a different experience than the other parks with all the animals and more nature type trails, with just a few rides and such. But, I feel like we were able to do and see a lot.

Next time, though, I will avoid Expedition Everest like the plague!
