Dr. Suess' Birthday!

Every year I think to myself, "I really should do something for Dr. Suess' Birthday!" And, every year I do absolutely nothing.

But, this year- a friend hosted a Dr. Suess Birthday Party co-op!

SCORE!

It was a lot of fun, and so sweet of Liese to put this together. Her kids are a little older, but they wanted to do something fun for the smaller kids. We had a great time! And, we LOVE Dr. Suess (though not the WWII Dr. Suess. That Dr. Suess was a horrible, awful man- but the nice kids' author Dr. Suess was wonderful).

S'mores!

Today we met with homeschoolers to run around a park and make s'mores. It was wonderful! The weather was almost too warm, there was a mother owl nesting in a tree, and a HUGE dead frog was fished out of the lake. What could be better? It was a nice little reprieve.

Don't Use the Toilet!

The girls' toilet got clogged, so Claire made this sign to make sure nobody used it:

All About STEM

It wasn't really planned to be like this, but today was all about STEM. I almost decided to count it as a school day, which I certainly could have.

We started out by helping the kids build rockets for 4H. Then the girls made some pillows for a cancer center, and then the girls played with an old robotics toy that Ben had growing up.

Such a fun day!

Creative Cooks Prep!

It's been a couple of years since the girls participated, but they decided they wanted to do Creative Cooks for 4H again. This is where they make a menu with 5 items, decorate a table, etc. It is a lot of fun, but also a lot of work.

Today they met with their partners (Audra is with her friend Ella, Claire is with Camille). The theme for Audra and Ella is "Puppies" and Camille and Claire chose "Princesses"- surprise, surprise.

Yesterday they spent over 3 hours cooking. PHEW! They mostly did it themselves, though, with me just guiding them here and there.

And, what did they all create? A masterpiece! We will leftovers for days.

Here are the princess wands:

Audra and Ella working together. Can you tell them apart? We call them twins.

The princess carriage dip. We need to get some plastic horses from the dollar store, but we just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Paw rolls- these turned out so dang cute! They may be my favorite:

They also had Paw-sta, Toilet water (lemonade dyed blue), pups in a blanket, and fruit dip (any ideas for a puppy sounding name? For the actual competition they will put the dip into a dog bowl):

Rapunzel braid, princess wands, and carriage with veggie dip:

Creative cooks here we come!

Claire's Talk

Today was Claire's turn to give a talk in primary. Hopefully we will get a break for awhile as all three girls have recently given talks.

Good afternoon. Today I have been asked to talk about the Fall of Adam.

The fall of Adam and Eve was known by Heavenly Father and “was a necessary step in the plan of life and a great blessing to all of us”. We accepted this condition in the spirit world when we supported Heavenly Father’s plan.

Because of the Fall, we are blessed with physical bodies, the right to choose between good and evil, and the opportunity to gain eternal life. None of these privileges would have been ours had Adam and Eve remained in the garden” Because Adam and Eve “fell” from the presence of God and became mortal having physical bodies.

We have the privilege of choice, being separated from God, and being subject to death were all part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us to become like Him.

I want to share my testimony that I know the church is true and that Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus and that when we are sealed in the temple our family can live together forever.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
