Sweet Sixteen

We just had the most fun FHE--the kids loved it!
We did an April Madness Sweet Sixteen with General Conference Quotes.
I printed off one quote from each conference talk (I got them from Deseret News. I can send you the list, just leave a comment or send me a text). Yesterday, I had everybody go through and pick their top 3 quotes (a total of 16).
Then tonight the quotes went head to head as we voted for our favorites and eliminated quotes until we got our favorite one. I'll print and frame our favorite to be on display until next conference.
We had popcorn and licorice and a special dessert after. I played fun music like Eye of the Tiger, Final Countdown, We Are the Champions, Roar, etc. in between each round and we danced and cheered. It was super fun!

The winner: Elder Bednar: We do not come to the temple to hide from or escape the evils of the world. Rather, we come to the temple to conquer the world of evil."

Guess Who

The girls were so cute today. They decided to dress up as characters from a book and have us guess who they were. Ben and I guessed Camille pretty quickly.

Claire was Sarah Crewe from The Little Princess and Audra was Anne of Green Gables. They gave us clues throughout the day of who they were. It was so cute! These girls really are the best!

Fort Art

Audra got a class assignment to build a fort. That was her art assignment.

Well, the kids, of course, LOVED this! They spent hours on this- with the only argument being that it was AUDRA'S assignment, not Claire and Camille's, so Audra was quite upset that the other girls tried to take her assignment away.

They slept in there- twice. They brought all their schoolwork down there and did their work in the fort, without any complaints.

Last week they begged to set a tent up outside to sleep in. I think this was a very adequate substitute- and it has definitely added some magic to this pandemic.

Then, the girls worked on a Covid-19 journal. This was Camille's answer, totally, completely unprompted. But, I feel like we must be teaching her something right!

Easter Sunday

Despite our circumstances and despite SNOW (ugh- this week is supposed to be super cold. It stinks), we had a lovely Easter.

I didn't want to go to the grocery store and I wasn't up for making  a ham, so we had Easter Enchiladas.

For the first time, we made Resurrection Rolls. They turned out really well!

And, Claire insisted we make a bunny cake, which we have made for the past few years. I am REALLY hoping that we don't ever make it again! The cake was super crumbly, and it made the ugliest bunny on the planet. The girls are super offended that I called it ugly, however, and insist that it just unique and that being unique is a good thing.

Obstacle Course

Some friends of ours set up an obstacle course out of sidewalk chalk on their street, so we rode our bikes over to do it. It had twirls, frog jumps, crab walk, hopping on one foot, running and more. It was really cute- our girls did it at least 4 times.

This week the weather has been gorgeous. We have been able to get outside a lot, and it has been wonderful- we have definitely taken advantage of the weather! It has helped a lot to keep our spirits high, and this week has gone better than last week as we settle into this new way of life. It sounds like we will have this new way of life for awhile, so I'm grateful for the days when we can get outside and not feel like we are quarantined.

Easter Banner

It took way longer than it should have, but the girls put together this cute bunny banner.
