We started the day with a fun dolphin cruise. It's possible we saw some dolphin fins, but it's debatable.
But we did get to do some YMCA. It was a fun little party boat, and we went really fast and got wet and had a great time.
Afterwards some of us had lunch on the pier. It was SOOOOOO good! I LOVE hush puppies! I want to go back to the south just to get some more.
My dad eating his gator tacos.
Then we went to North Carolina so we could cross NC off our states list, and it was only a 10 minute drive away. So we went to a creamery there and got some ice-cream.
And then to cap off the night we threw my parents a surprise 50th anniversary party. I put together a Jeopardy game about family trivia. There were some great questions, and I wish I'd saved them all. But here's some of them:
-What was Grandpa High called while working in the shop with his dad? Little Leo
-What trendy 80's accessory can the Marriott's be seen wearing on all their vacations? Fanny packs
-What is the Hale's favorite movie? Princess Bride
-What was grandma and grandpa's first date? Rabbit hunting
-How many pets do the DeCremer's have? 13
-What 6 names did grandpa call us at any time growing up? Michelle, Melissa, Christina, Stephanie, Matthew, and Shilo (our dog)
There was a lot of laughing as we all learned more about our family.
We had pizza and cake- it was great.
I remember vividly celebrating my grandparent's 50th. I can't believe that I simply blinked and now it's my parents 50th. Pretty soon I'll blink again and it will be Ben and me celebrating.
I'm grateful for my parents and their example of sticking together through thick and thin. It wasn't always perfect. They argued, just like all couples, but they told me once they didn't get married to get divorced. They always, always, always put family first- that is the greatest legacy they have left us with.
