Camille is Mayor!

AmeriTowne was a lot of fun for Camille! She ran for mayor of AmeriTowne- she had to give a speech and run a campaign, and she won! She actually tied, and the teachers chose her based on her work ethic and behavior in class.

At AmeriTowne, she represented her school as mayor. She gave another speech and did a ribbon cutting.

This was such a great experience for her! She was in absolute heaven and loved every minute of it!

I am so impressed with her willingness to be brave, try new things, and put herself out there. She's amazing! (side note: This was while I was in WDW, but my awesome friends were chaperones and sent me pictures. They said she did an absolutely fantastic job!)

Animal Kingdom

Our first day in the parks was at Animal Kingdom. It was a great day! I rode all the rides I wanted, including Flight of Passage twice, and met at The Nomad Lounge where I met lots more people, and then at night we went to a tree house at Saratoga Springs for a party. It was an awesome day!

Meeting Toni-Ann- the woman behind the podcast!
I rode Kali River Rapids twice- it was great, but not my favorite river ride.

CURT- the "Podfather" of Geekin!
Festival of the Lion King- another first! I went with Ken and Judy, so great to spend time with them.

The tree house- a great night for sure!

TDC 2023!

It took two years of convincing Ben to let me go, but I FINALLY got to go and meet my Weird Internet Friends!

During Covid, I needed something that was pure fluff. I couldn't stand listening to the politics and mask debates and needed a break. Somehow I landed on a Disney podcast- Geekin' On WDW. I don't even remember how I found it, but I started listening and loved it. Then, I started listening to another podcast that friends of Geekin' started- The Disney Crush. Everybody in these two podcasts are friends, and there is NO politics, just love for The Mouse.

Anyway, they helped me get through Covid and I have wanted to meet them, and finally I got my chance.

My friend Torie and I flew down for TDC 2023. We stayed at The Beach Club- a beautiful deluxe resort. It was an absolutely wonderful weekend!

On one of the very first Geekin' episodes I listened to, Curt talked about the No Way Jose and I knew I wanted one! But there was one problem: It has peanut butter, and Ben is allergic. So we went to my favorite restaurant on property, Beaches and Cream, as a family I didn't order it (they are HUGE- you have to share it, and nobody wanted to share it with me). So, this time, I absolutely bought it to share with Torie- and it was AWESOME!

Then we went to Disney Springs, where I had never been. It's mostly just a big mall, and I didn't love it- but, it's where we had our first meet up and I FINALLY met some weird internet podcast friends at Wine Bar George!

A great first day!

Spring Snowstorm

What should you do when a winter storm at the end of April ruins your 4 day weekend and cancels all of your outdoor plans and games? Go to the theater, or course. We went to see Super Mario Brothers and it was a really cute movie.

First College Tour

A few weeks ago Audra said, "mom, can we do some college tours?" Oh, I knew it was coming. She's almost a junior- it's time to seriously think about college.

Ben has been wanting to take the girls to his alma mater, so with a chilly day off of school, we headed to CU Denver. Camille didn't love it as it was a lot of walking, but Claire and Audra seemed to enjoy it.

We stopped at VooDoo Doughnuts so that was a treat!

College tour #1 complete.

Academic Letter

Audra, and her support team, have all worked really hard and she was rewarded with an academic letter! I got to go to the ceremony where they handed the awards out- it was pretty cool!

AmeriTowne Mayor

Camille ran for, and was voted in, as AmeriTowne Mayor for her class! Next week they will go on their field trip to AmeriTowne, where she will do the ribbon cutting and perform all the duties of a mayor. She had to give a speech, there was an election- the election ended in a tie, the first time ever for her teacher, so it was decided based on her interview and classroom behavior. She's a rock star, what can we say?
