Cancun: Day 3

Because yesterday was a bit of a bust, and we knew the weather might not be great today, we decided to go to Xplor- an adventure park that Mexico calls their Disney of Mexico. They have several eco parks, and we went to Xel-Ha years ago from a cruise and loved it. I didn't want to spend another rainy day at the resort, so off we went.

It was WONDERFUL! We had such a great time! The weather was still very chilly- but it didn't rain, so that was nice.

This slide was MASSIVE! It had 5 big slide components in it. Ben wanted to go on it again, but we weren't brave enough to join him again. It was awesome, but definitely made my stomach jump!

There were several underwater caves, well really I guess one big massive underwater cave, with rafting and river walking. Ben and I LOVED these! The girls liked them.

Then there was an ATV course. Ben had a blast driving through this course. This would definitely not be an approved course in the States!

And we ended with some zip lining. This was Camille's favorite

We really did have an absolutely fantastic day and I hope we can go back someday!

NCAA Tournament, Part 2

 GO LONGHORNS!!!!

(BYU ended up losing to Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Audra went to Kansas for the Big 12 Tournament, and then Portland for the first NCAA game. We were all excited they lost so Audra could get back to school. She said she had fun on the trips, but it caused her so much anxiety)

Cancun: Day 2

Our first full day was a little bit of a bust. I got dressed and went to the beach as soon as I woke up in order to reserve us lounge chairs. The beach was quite empty. There  were some guests doing yoga. There were a lot of workers cleaning the red sargassum that is plaguing the coasts. That was pretty cool to watch.

The weather was cloudy and cool, but I still enjoyed sitting on the beach, listening to the waves, and watching the beach wake up.

Eventually, around 9, Ben found me. I was still pretty much the only one there so we went to breakfast together, and we figured if the chairs got full, that would be OK.

The breakfast was the same every day- a glorious buffet with at least 2 million options for food. It was wonderful!

Then, it started raining. HARD.

Since we were already soaked, and the beach ended up getting closed because the winds picked up, we decided to swim in the now very empty pool.
There was one or two breaks, but eventually the rain just came down in torrents and didn't let up all day/night. We showered and hung out in our rooms for the majority of the day and evening outside of going to dinner. You can see how the grassy area outside our rooms flooded pretty good.
We went to the Japanese restaurant for dinner. The girls tried sushi for the first time. Camille decided she should since she is going to Japan soon. Claire was not a fan. "It has so much rice!"
Then, sadly, I poisoned Ben by giving him some  chocolate mousse that had Nutella in it. Curses! Apparently Mexicans LOVE Nutella.

This is how Ben looked after walking about 30 yards back to our room. It really was coming down hard!
So, today was a little bit of a bust, but that's OK. We made the best of it and were still able to relax and enjoy our time

Cancun: Day 1

Against our better judgement, we let the girls talk us in to taking them to an all inclusive resort in Cancun. They have been begging to go to one for awhile because a lot of their friends have gone and they had serious FOMO. Ben and I LOVE cruises, so this was a shift for us, and we were nervous to try something new. We purposely made the trip a little short- only 5 days including travel days. Everyone told us it would be fine, but were still nervous. Turns out, we had nothing to be worried about- it really was easy and wonderful. The flight is only a little less than 4 hours, and went really quick. It is a very easy flight. Then we caught a shuttle to the resort, and our vacation began!

When we checked in, they gave us delicious juice- we knew it was going to be great after that ;)

They called it a 2-room suite, but really it was 2 different rooms connected by a short hallway, so the girls got their own room, and so did Ben and me. It was really great!

It really was paradise!!
Some pretty cool animals

There were several restaurants at the resort that got to choose from. For the first night, we chose the Italian restaurant. It was delicious!
This was just the salad bar options!

Isn't this simply paradise?!? It was really, really incredible
We stayed at Riu Playacar- an all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen, about 45 minutes south of Cancun. It was recommended to us by some friends, and it was an excellent choice. We enjoyed some virgin Pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris, but I eventually realized that the sweet virgin strawberry mojitos are my favorite. So yummy!

Silent Disco! This is something that Ben and I have always wanted to try, and it was our evening entertainment on Monday which was a lot of fun.

It was a great start to our trip!
