Band Concert

Even though we homeschool, the girls are allowed to participate in a number of activities at the local school. Both Ben and I really want our girls to be in band or orchestra, and Audra decided she wanted to play the trumpet. That was a surprise! But, she decided it all on her own, and with a little help from her cousin Tabatha and a member in our ward who played the trumpet in high school, Audra finally figured out how to make noise with her trumpet, and she's been on the trumpet war path ever since! She is doing really well, and she loves it. She goes to school at 7:45 every Tuesday and Thursday, and then I go and pick her up and we go home and do school. It's worked out really well.

Anyway, tonight was her first band concert. Because she is a trumpet player, she is in the way back. And sits behind a really tall girl. So I got lots of great shots of the top of her head.

She told me before the concert that she was glad she didn't have a solo because she was feeling pretty nervous. But, she did awesome. Another night of a mom's heart bursting at the seams for being so proud of her daughter!

Do you see her?

Here's some video for grandma. Sorry it's so shaky- I had to hold it above my head to try and get some of Audra in the shot:

Then, after the concert, we headed to Freddy's for ice-cream to celebrate!
